the marketing alliance was founded in 1996 by Julia Garvey.
Julia has over 25 years’ experience of marketing within the publishing industry. She holds a degree in publishing from Oxford Brookes University, a CIM diploma in marketing and has tutored on a range of marketing and digital courses for the Publishing Training Centre.
Julia is also a keen distance runner and has run both the London and Brighton Marathons as well as numerous half marathons and 10ks.
Julia’s early career was spent at Blackwell Education working on curriculum resources, before moving on to professional publishing via Gower and Profile Systems. In 1996, following a chance enquiry at the London Book Fair, she spontaneously decided to go it alone and the marketing alliance was born.
Since then we have launched Spirit software for the Education Company on the London Eye, introduced Gojimo GCSE revision app to 1 in 3 GCSE students, acted as interim Head of Marketing at Little Tiger, managed the Frankfurt Book Fair presence for Macmillan Publishers and enjoyed long term relationships with Rising Stars, Galore Park, The Publishing Training Centre, Pan Macmillan and GL Assessment, amongst others.
We have worked for publishers big and small; for trade, children’s, STM, and education publishers; for trade associations, education suppliers and EdTech companies. What keeps companies coming back to the marketing alliance is our ability to understand their needs and offer fresh approaches that help drive growth and deliver results.
